Jodhpur is one of the most popular cities in Rajasthan’s princely state. The city is situated on the outskirts of the Thar Desert and was built in 1459 by Rao Jodha, the ruler of the Rathore tribe. Mehrangar Fort – This old fort gives witness to the Rajputs’ bravery. The fort is recognised as one of India’s most magnificent and formidable forts. The second door has the scars of cannon balls that struck during wartime. Maharaja Man Singh constructed the Jayapol in 1806 after his conquest of Jaipur and Bikaner. The victory gate, or Fatehpol, was constructed by Maharaja Ajit Singh as a testament to his triumph against the great Mughals.
Beautiful courtyards and palaces like as the Sukh Mahal, Moti Mahal, Phool Mahal, and Sheesh Mahal are located inside the fort. The Chamunda Devi shrine is located on the fort’s southern side.
Jaswant Thada – This white marble building was created as a tribute to Maharaja Jaswant Singh II. It is located near the Mehrangar fort and was constructed in 1899. The cenotaph is renowned for its exquisite marble latticework, or jali work, and for the magnificent view of the city from its terraces.
Umaid Bhawan Palace & Museum – Due to the palace’s construction in the indigenous chittar sandstone, it is sometimes referred to as the Chhittar Palace. The structure is clad in white marble and pink sandstone. It was designed by the head of the Royal Institute of Architects in the United Kingdom. The descendants of the former monarchs maintain this exquisite mansion. A portion of the palace has been converted into a magnificent hotel, while the remainder has been converted into a museum.
