The route usually involves traveling via NH9 to Rishikesh, then taking the road towards Rudraprayag, Ukhimath, and finally Chopta.

By Train:

While there’s no direct train to Chopta, you can take a train from Delhi to Haridwar Railway Station or Rishikesh Railway Station. From there, you can hire a taxi or take a bus to Rudraprayag or Ukhimath, which are the nearest towns to Chopta. The road journey from Haridwar or Rishikesh to Chopta takes about 8-10 hours.

By Air:

The nearest airport to Chopta is Jolly Grant Airport (DED) in Dehradun, which is approximately 225 kilometers away. You can book a flight from Indira Gandhi International Airport (DEL) in Delhi to Dehradun Airport. From Dehradun, you can hire a taxi or take a bus to Rudraprayag or Ukhimath, and then proceed to Chopta. The road journey from Dehradun to Chopta takes about 7-8 hours.

By Bus:

Uttarakhand Road Transport Corporation (UKRTC) operates regular bus services from Delhi to Rudraprayag or Ukhimath. From Rudraprayag or Ukhimath, you can take a taxi or local bus to Chopta. The journey by bus takes longer, usually around 12-14 hours, depending on the road and traffic conditions.


For adventure enthusiasts, trekking to Chopta is also an option. There are several trekking trails leading to Chopta, including routes from nearby towns like Gopeshwar and Sari Village. However, trekking routes require proper planning, trekking gear, and fitness level.
